Jane Liquid Eyeliner Review and Swatches

Growing up, Jane Cosmetics was what started it all for me. They used to send out mini magazines to my sister… and I would steal them as soon as I could! They were just a mini square pamphlet-like magazine. It would talk about make-up tips, confidence boosts, and purchase ideas… Oh how I wanted to look like those girls! I can picture them SO clearly! But I could never find Jane cosmetics by the time I was purchasing makeup often! So when it came back with a bang a few years ago I was ecstatic. But… I still haven’t purchased much! P.S. Does Jane still make those little magazines???

I was in the market for some liquid liner and saw these and thought I’d give them a try! It took awhile to pick what colors because they were all so tempting!

I ended up picking 14Kt Gold(Bright yellow gold), Golden Black (Black with gold shimmer), and Metallic Lilac (Shimmering Plum). They have 13 total colors, so you should be able to find something for you!

I love Golden Black for an everyday liner. It has just a little something special, but it’s still day appropriate. 14kt is great for holiday parties, and Metallic Lilac is perfect for a date!

One thing I like the most about these liners is the applicator. It’s a brush, but extremely fine!

These claim to be waterproof, which I feel they live up to. BUT they’re not rub-proof! 😉 So don’t think it’ll last through everything!

So next time you’re in the market for a liquid eyeliner – check these out! They’re budget friendly so have fun with the color selection they have!

Marc Jacobs Twinkle Pop Eye Stick

Whew! Is it really Friday???? Yes. IT IS!

So I heard about this product and thought they were kidding with the name. They’re not. Isn’t it awesome! Twinkle Pop. You cannot help but smile when you say that! 🙂

So this is my first ever Marc Jacobs product. (Hopefully, not my last!)

A metal tube-shaped like a crayon or pencil. Really chic looking though, obviously.

I purchased the shade Au Revoir – which is a pewter shade. I found that formula swatched a little more wet than I expected, so I wasn’t sure if it would wear very well on me. But it did!  I let it set for 15 seconds and then rubbed it to see if it would transfer. A few micro-glitter pieces did, but that’s it. Not bad…And it had a cooling sensation when applied! It was a fun surprise!

Here’s what Sephora said about the product:

What it is:
A two-in-one, shimmering, creamy eye shadow and eyeliner in a sleek and reflective chrome, take-anywhere case.

What it does:
This creamy eye shadow and eyeliner duo lets you experience a shimmering pop of color in an instant. With shades that range from gleaming gemstones to glistening neutrals, this formula’s smooth, buildable coverage can be easily layered with other shades for added glimmer and drama. It’s infused with pure Alpine snow water from the Swiss Alps to hydrate lids and to leave them with a soothing sensation, and the innovative, propel-repel pen provides effortless application without the need of a brush.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates

What else you need to know:
“I created this beautiful, poppy crayon to apply color boldly to your eyes.” —Marc Jacobs

Designed for women on-the-go, Twinkle Pop can be worn alone, under or over powder eye shadow to create endless eye looks. Apply as an eye shadow, or as an eyeliner with the narrow, angled edge to add an unexpected dose of drama. This product is cruelty-free, and the shade names were inspired by the captivating female characters in Marc’s favorite films.

So the day after I purchased this, I woke up late. I thought, “What a perfect time to try this!” And… it was awesome. It depuffed my eyes, it looked great alone so I could just swipe on some mascara and go, and it was SO fast. I applied one eye at a time, and even then I could barely blend before it set! So watch out for that!

I literally purchased 2 more shades today because I loved it so much. I didn’t wear an eye primer with it, and about 8 hours later it had creased. So I’ll probably wear primer from here on out. But I have EXTREMELY oily eyelids, so I don’t think that will be an issue for most people!

What do you think? Are you gonna pamper yourself with this one? Let me know if you’ve tried these!

Benefit They’re Real! Push-Up Liner Review

Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Push-Up Liner Review!

Alright, our next product for Eyes on Me! week is one that has been pretty buzzed about recently!

So, when I saw pictures of this liner I thought that the weird applicator was actually solid liner. I was so stumped at how the heck they expected you to keep that shape. But I had the opportunity to get a sample of it, so I was excited to see how it worked for me. And… I felt really silly when I figured out the applicator and use of this.

In short? I love it.

I suffer from “oily-eyelid syndrome”. I also suffer from “I-work-really-long-hours-and-don’t-have-time-to-check-and-reapply-eyeliner-throughout-the-day syndrome”.  Tough, huh?

So this eyeliner is incredible because it literally stays all day! And further. You have to really work to get it off. Washing your face isn’t enough, you will need a makeup remover.

Here’s how Sephora describes this amazing wonder-liner:

What it is:
An innovative and waterproof lash-hugging gel liner pen.

What it does:
Benefit They’re Real! Push-Up Liner is the first foolproof and budge-proof gel liner in a pen. This eyeliner’s soft AccuFlex™ tip is custom-angled to draw an easy line. Its flat, wide guard gently pushes lashes aside to get close to lash line. A gorgeous way to open up eyes, this matte black gel formula won’t dry out, and its cutting-edge tip ensures a precise line every time.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens

What else you need to know:
This product is vegan-friendly, non-comedogenic, and does not contain latex. It is long-wearing and water-resistant; it should be removed before bedtime to prevent the blocking of pores.

Research results:
In a consumer panel survey on 32 women after 2 weeks:
– 91% said it was long-wearing
– 81% said it was waterproof
– 88% said it hugged the lash line

I honestly didn’t need a ton of “practice” with it, like the company recommends in its instructional video. I think, if you’ve ever applied gel liner with an angle brush you’ll find this pretty natural! And the line is SUPER black – so don’t have to go over it again and again to make it dark!

My big tips?

Make sure you steady your hand on your cheek or something so you don’t wiggle the application!

I prefer to start by simply holding my applicator with one tip touching my lower lash line, and one pointing toward my brows to create a perfect line to connect to!

Tightline with another black eyeliner so the roots  of your lashes match the blackness of the liner!

DON’T twist more than once! You only need a tiny amount of liner to line your eyes!

Alrighty! That’s it! Those are my overall thoughts. It’s amazing. Go buy it. Right now. As soon as my sample runs out, I’ll definitely be grabbing this too! I reach for it over ALL of my gel and even liquid liners!

If you enjoyed this post, make sure you check out the other Eyes on Me! posts from earlier this week.  We had the Too Faced Cat Eyes, Too Faced Country Girl Palette, and the Covergirl Curvaceous Bombshell Mascara!

As you know this mascara was sent to me by Influenster about a month ago, and I was ecstatic to try it! Is the name not ridiculously long though?

Here’s how Covergirl describes this new product!

New Bombshell Curvaceous Mascara features the revolutionary two-sided Bombshell Boost System for volume, curl, and dramatic intensity.

Step 1: Extreme volume basecoat formula loads on the volume while the curved “push-up” brush creates eye-catching curves. The result? Curvy lashes with lifted volume.

Step 2: Dark, intensifying topcoat that seals the look with a dark, smooth finish; the proprietary micro-thin lacquer offers maximum impact and lasts all day and all night in just one coat.

So, when I first tried this I HATED it. I’ll post some funny first impression videos of it soon! You’ll see why.

But now that the formula has dried out a bit, I like it a lot more. It’s still not my favorite, but it works at making my lashes noticeable…. The first time I tried this it was so wet, that it was STICKY. My eyelashes stuck together, and it got mascara all over…. Not cute. But I’ve found myself reaching for the step 1 often, but not the step 2. So maybe I just like the lashblast mascara….. not this set…

Have you tried this? What did you think?

Too Faced – Country Girl Swatches & Review!

Man, can you tell I’m a sucker for Too Faced products? This the second installment of our Eyes on Me! week. If you missed the firs post about the Too Faced Cat Eyes Palette then go check it out! And let me know what eye products you’re into this week!

There are 2 palettes that Too Faced came out with recently: Country Girl and Rocker Chic. Now, my day to day life doesn’t call for rock concert attire… So for me I felt the Country Girl fit my tastes just a bit more.

20140721_204832 20140721_204819

These colors are mainly neutral, but my FAVORITE shade is called “Paper Roses”. It’s a beautiful poppy pink color, with golden shimmer. SOOOOO pretty. Here’s an up close look and then we’ll do swatches!

The Day trio for this palette includes Cowboy Take Me Away, Y’all, and Dolly. This is the classic cream, champagne creamy glitter, and dark brown. All pretty, and all very day appropriate! Approved! 🙂

The Classic trio is the one that made me giddy with excitement. The highlight is matte/satin finish soft white color called Famous in a Small Town(They were into the long names in this palette :-/ ), Paper Roses ( the coral-pink, with gold shimmer), and Rhinestone ( a dark lavender with silver micro-glitter).  Rhinestone appears a little more grey than purple when swatched, but it’s still really pretty! (The lighting for this picture isn’t showing the more vibrant side of it… sorry!)

The Fashion trio includes All American Girl, Nashville, and Bluebird. The color of the picture here is a little grey toned, they appear a little more blue in reality.  But these are quite lovely! I’m always a little leary of blues because I’m scared of looking like an 80’s chick…. and not in the cool way. In the embarrassing way…. 😉 All American Girl was a surprising choice for a highlight though. It’s a straight up silver. A soft one, but silver none the less….

Overall, I really like this palette! Because I liked it, I feel tempted by the Rocker Chic palette. Have any of you bought it? Is it worth it? Let me know! I have some palettes with similar colors, so I feel like I shouldn’t…..

I hope these thoughts help with any purchase decisions of this palette! 🙂

Too Faced – Cat Eyes Palette Swatches & Review

What’s more feminine than a good cat eye?

Yep. Nothing. 😉

So, when Too Faced came out with this palette, I swooned! Or purred….

20140802_211723 20140802_211742

So the really unique thing about this palette is that there are 3 shadows that are specifically made to be used wet or dry. ( You can clearly tell which ones they are from the box and label! 😉 )

So I tested this out on myself, and my roommate. And I loved it! It looked dang good! If you want any ideas or looks from this palette, then let me know! Because believe me, I’m sooooo happy to oblige!

Too Faced pallettes always have the structure of a Day look, a Classic look, and a Fashion look. So here are some swatches of the shadows so have an idea of what kind of quality we’re dealing with.

For the Day look we have Purrr, Tiger’s Eye (Which is SUPER creamy!), and Leopard. You’ll see Leopard in 2 ways, a dry swatch and a wet one. I felt that the dry you can see the gold micro-glitter easily, but when it’s wet it can hardly be detected at all!

20140802_211215For the Classic look we have Meow, Pussy Cat, and Jungle Love. In the palette Jungle Love is an exciting color, but when swatched it’s so dark you can hardly tell it’s purple. So that could be good if you’re going for a softer look I suppose…. But I was sad. 😦 It’s also fairly dry when swatched without water. Meow and Pussy Cat I love though!

And for our Fashion look we have Kitten, Kitty Glitter (get it? ), and Panther. Kitty Glitter looks just like… glitter. It doesn’t have a ton of pigment. Panther, as you can see, is also lacking on the opacity…. Kitten is creamy and amazing though!

So overall, I LOVE the idea of this palette! I’m going to get tons of use out of most of the shadows. The WET/DRY shadows, are almost only usable when wet though….  Something in those shadows’ formula also makes them a little harder to blend. I’m glad I own this palette, but if I was doing a 2 week trial run before I decided to buy it ( Wouldn’t that be awesome if companies did that???), then I may not have purchased it. That being said, I did buy it and I’m gonna get some good use from it!

Hope this helps all of you!
